More about the etching.... hummm Yesterday I etched 2 beads, made on the same mandrel, with the same rod of glass. CLEAR. I etched them for 15 min and stirred every few min. One etched nicely (I would still go with more time, 5 min more maybe, but it was an experiment) The other bead did not etch at all.......
I don't get it.
I am under the assumption now that etching cream is like silver glass... you better hold your breath 'til you turn the perfect color blue, and hope that the planets are aligned!!! LOL More testing to come!
that is so strange. I haven't tried etching yet. I had no idea it could be so persnickety!
ReplyDeleteMe either! I did another test of 2 clear beads, made on the same mandrel, with the same rod of clear. One etched after about 10 min. The other had no effect showing what so ever. Go figure! I only made 2 beads of each color, but I may have to make more of certain picky colors at this point!
